Arbeitsgruppe Rodriguez-Emmenegger
Die AG Rodriguez-Emmenegger verfolgt das Ziel, adaptive Bio-Grenzflächen und Protozellen zu entwickeln, die in der Lage sind, mit synthetischen und natürlichen Systemen zu interagieren und diese zu steuern. Um dieses Ziel zu erreichen, entwickeln die Wissenschaftler und Wissenschaftlerinnen der AG Wege, um die Topologie und Architektur von synthetischen und hybriden Makromolekülen maßzuschneidern. Weiteres Ziel ist es, ihre intermolekularen Wechselwirkungen zu programmieren, um die hierarchisch gerichtete Selbstassemblierung in Grenzflächen und Materialien voranzutreiben, die in der Lage sind, ihre Eigenschaften selektiv und aktiv (autonom) in Abhängigkeit von Umgebungseinflüssen - biologisch und künstlich - zu verändern. Darüber hinaus untersucht die AG, wie sich superselektive Grenzflächen erreichen lassen, indem man Abstoßung in wässrigen Systemen mit mehrwertigen und kooperativen anziehenden Wechselwirkungen ausgleicht.
Die AG um Rodriguez-Emmenegger arbeitet an der Umsetzung der Grundlagenforschung in adaptive hämokompatible Beschichtungen, antimikrobielle Wundauflagen und diagnostische Werkzeuge. Sie entwickelt auch neue Konzepte für Zellmembran-Imitate und protozelluläre Systeme, die in der Lage sind, mit lebenden Zellen zu kommunizieren und deren Verhalten durch die Ausnutzung biophysikalischer und biochemischer Aktionen zu steuern.
