Synthesis of branched polymers to interact with living matter
As part of the SFB 985 project, you will synthesize arborescent polymers by controlled radical polymerization methods. You will introduce different functional groups suitable for crosslinking and use them as building blocks for the fabrication of ultra-low crosslinked arborescent microgels.
Your tasks and responsibilities
- Synthesis of arborescent polymers and functionalization into photoactive building blocks for microgel production.
- Polymer characterization by common methods (NMR, GPC, IR)
- Microgel production in miniemulsion.
We are looking for a motivated student to join our RG Rodriguez-Emmenegger. You should be enrolled in the master’s program in chemistry, or a related field, with a strong interest in polymer chemistry. A willingness to learn new skills, proficiency in English (written and spoken), and an independent work manner are highly valued for this position.
