[HiWi position] Synthesis of branched macromolecular building blocks to interact with living systems

Arbeitsgruppe: AG Rodriguez-Emmenegger

Project description

As part of the SFB 985 project, you will synthesize arborescent polymers by controlled radical polymerization methods and use them as building blocks for the fabrication of ultra-low crosslinked arborescent microgels. In addition, based on your interests, you will participate in the construction of synthetic cell systems based on the self-assembly of ionically linked comb polymers.

Your tasks and responsibilities

  • Synthesis of arborescent polymers and functionalization into photoactive building blocks for microgel production.
  • Microgel production
  • Synthesis and self-assembly of ionically linked comb polymers
  • General lab responsibilities

We are looking for a motivated student to join our RG Rodriguez-Emmenegger. You should be enrolled in the master’s program in chemistry, or a related field, with a strong interest in polymer chemistry. A willingness to learn new skills, proficiency in English (written and spoken), and an independent work manner are highly valued for this position.

This is what we offer

  • Opportunity to be part of a cutting-edge research project in the field of bioinspired interactive materials
  • Enhance your practical skills in organic synthesis, polymer synthesis and common characterization methods. Get hands on experience in conducting research
  • An inclusive and team-oriented work environment in an international, interdisciplinary setting
  • The guidance and support of an experienced team
