Die Arbeitsgruppe von Andrij Pich zeichnet sich durch eine große Kompetenz in der chemischen Synthese funktioneller wasserlöslicher und amphiphiler Polymere und Polymerkolloide aus. Die Kontrolle über die chemische Struktur, die Architektur und Morphologie der Polymere und Polymerkolloide spielt in diesem Zusammenhang eine wichtige Rolle. Große Erfahrung hat das Team auch in der Synthese von funktionellen molekularen Bausteinen, beispielsweise Monomere, Makromonomere und Präpolymere, die für den maßgeschneiderten Aufbau von Polymeren und Kolloiden eingesetzt werden. Als Methoden kommen neben der Polymerisation in homogenen Systemen oder der Heterophasenpolymerisation die Fällungspolymerisation sowie mikrofluidische Reaktionsprozesse zum Einsatz. Ein besonderer Schwerpunkt der Arbeitsgruppe liegt auf der Synthese reaktiver Polymere, responsiver Nanogele, biohybrider Partikeln für Entwicklung von adaptiven Katalysatoren, bio-basierten Flammschutzadditiven, stimuli-responsiven kolloidalen Trägersystemen und bioaktiven Beschichtungen.
