Prof. Dr.-Ing. Laura De Laporte
Laura De Laporte entwickelt biohybride und bioinspirierte Materialien für anspruchsvolle medizinische Anwendungen, zum Beispiel zur Nachbildung der komplexen Struktur natürlicher Gewebe. Um dies zu erreichen, arbeitet sie an neuen Materialkonzepten und neuen Herstellungsverfahren. Dabei kombiniert sie Verfahrenstechnik, Chemie und Biologie, um Biomaterialien zu entwickeln, welche die gesteuerte und kontrollierte Interaktion von Zellen ermöglichen. Ihr Team entwickelt niedrig-invasive, polymere regenerative Hydrogeltherapien, die aus nano- und mikrometergroßen Bausteinen bestehen, welche sich nach der Injektion räumlich ausrichten, um anisotropes Gewebe, wie zum Beispiel das Rückenmark, zu reparieren. Darüber hinaus werden dynamische Hydrogele für die Freisetzung von Wirkstoffen und für mechanobiologische Studien entwickelt.
Resume
Laura De Laporte hat Chemieingenieurwesen an der Universität Gent (Belgien) studiert. Sie promovierte an der Northwestern University (Evanston, USA) in der Gruppe von Prof. Lonnie Shea und entwickelte dort Implantate für die Nervenregeneration. An der EPFL (Lausanne, Schweiz) erforschte sie in der Gruppe von Prof. Jeffrey Hubbell regenerative Hydrogele. Von 2013 bis 2018 leitete Laura De Laporte eine Nachwuchsgruppe am DWI – Leibniz-Institut für Interaktive Materialien in Aachen und wurde 2015 mit einem Starting Grant des Europäischen Forschungsrates ausgezeichnet. Im Oktober 2017 hat sie ihre Habilitation im Fachbereich Chemie der RWTH Aachen abgeschlossen. 2018 erhielt sie als eine von fünf exzellenten Wissenschaftlerinnen eine Förderung aus dem Leibniz-Programm für Professorinnen und wurde assoziierte Professorin im Fachbereich Chemie mit dem Lehr- und Forschungsgebiet Advanced Materials for Biomedicine. Seit 2021 ist sie zudem Teil des Instituts für Angewandte Medizintechnik und ist zusätzlich affiliiert an die Uniklinik RWTH Aachen. Im Jahr 2022 erhielt De Laporte einen ERC Consolidator Grant für das Projekt "Heartbeat".
