Our group is designing and preparing (macro)molecular building blocks and assembling/integrating them into materials, able to interact with their environment and respond to specific internal and external stimuli. Accompanying our synthetic efforts, we are investigating structure-property/function relationships of these materials and devices thereof. In particular, we are focusing on exploring light-responsive units to optically control and drive biological, chemical, and physical processes to realize unprecedented material properties and achieve new device functions. Primary targets are in the areas of optoelectronics, photobiology/medicine, 3D/4D-printing, and solar-based plastic processing and recycling.
