Learning and Aging Properties of Biomolecular Condensates

Arbeitsgruppe: AG Lorenz

Project Description

We want to study how biomolecular condensates can “learn” or have a memory potential. We will conduct cyclic phase-separating experiments and study the ability to phase separate and dissolve over the number of cycles. The phase-separating structures will be observed with fluorescence microscopy and light scattering.

Your Tasks and Responsibilities

Knowledge about these techniques is advantageous but not required.

  • Sample preparation (biochemical laboratory)
  • Sample imaging (fluorescence microscopy, bright field microscopy)
  • Data acquisition and analysis (e.g. with python)

We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic student to join our RG Lorenz. You should be enrolled in a university program in physics, materials science, biotechnology, biology, chemistry, or a related field, with a strong interest in biophysics. A willingness to learn new skills, high proficiency in English (written and spoken), and an independent work manner are highly valued for this position.

What We Offer

  • Opportunity to be part of a cutting-edge research project aimed to solve an unsolved challenge in the field of biophysics.
  • Enhance your practical skills in biophysical research and data analysis through hands-on experience with state-of-the-art techniques.
  • An inclusive and team-oriented work environment in an international, dynamic setting.
  • The guidance and support of an experienced team
