Cultural Diversity

Cultural diversity refers to the coexistence and interaction of different cultures within a society. It encompasses the recognition and appreciation of the different traditions, customs, languages, religions, worldviews, and lifestyles that people from different cultural backgrounds bring with them.
When we talk about cultural diversity in the workplace, we are referring to the inclusion of employees from different countries of origin, ethnic groups, sexual orientations, and political beliefs. The term “cultural diversity” promotes an inclusive environment in which people from different walks of life come together to work as a team.

Why – Our strategy & goals

At the DWI, diverse individuals share a common goal and an institutional culture in which everyone can contribute their strengths equally to achieve this goal in science and research: “Interactive disciplines with interactive people for interactive materials.” The DWI's institutional culture ultimately spans all dimensions of diversity, such as gender, internationality, interdisciplinary fields, and cultural diversity, enabling their impact and creating common ground, motivation, and performance. In our “Cultural Diversity” focus group, we are constantly working to further strengthen and anchor openness, tolerance, mutual respect, and equal opportunities in the DWI's institutional culture.

Feedback & Get Involved

Your perspective matters!

We want to actively shape our DEI initiatives together—because that's the only way we can truly embrace the cultural diversity that exists at our institute. Your experiences, ideas, and suggestions help us create an inclusive space that truly involves everyone.

Whether you want to give feedback or contribute new ideas, we look forward to hearing from you! Write to us, get involved, and become part of a community that not only recognizes diversity, but lives it.

This page is a living project – under construction, in motion, in dialogue. We know that we cannot portray everything perfectly and that we still have a lot to learn. That is why we see this content as a work in progress and welcome constructive feedback, new perspectives, and honest feedback.
