In my research, I focus on the targeted modification of surface properties of various materials, particularly metals, through the use of functional microgels. These microgels are applied to surfaces using techniques such as spin coating, dip coating, or soft lithographic printing processes, forming functional interfacial layers. The properties of these modified interfaces can be precisely tuned by adjusting the composition and structure of the microgels. The aim of my work is to develop switchable material systems based on such functional interfaces, which can be integrated into advanced engineering materials. These systems are intended to enhance the recyclability of components and assemblies without compromising material quality or mechanical performance. To characterize these properties, I employ various imaging techniques such as atomic force microscopy and scanning electron microscopy to analyze surface behavior. Additionally, mechanical testing methods, particularly tensile testing, are used to evaluate the macroscopic mechanical performance of the modified surfaces
