SiO2 micro capsules

SiO2 micro capsules for vector protection of textiles

According to WHO, vector-borne diseases account for 17% of infectious diseases per year worldwide. Measures to prevent infection include prevention of direct contact with the vector especially by barriers made of textiles, often impregnated with repellents or insecticides. The project focuses on the development of SiO2-based microcapsules and the application of the capsules for the vector protection of textiles. The encapsulation shall improve the barrier properties and wash permanence of the repellent coating, and give better control of the release of the active ingredient.
