Cellulose nanofibril (CNF) Hydrogels
Cellulose nanofibril (CNF) Hydrogels for Tissue Engineering
CNF is a low-cost material that can be physically or covalently crosslinked into hydrogels with outstanding properties like shape recovery and shear thinning. It is extremely biocompatible and cell adhesive and it can be extruded into tubes or employed to fabricate (indirect) printed complex scaffolds. However, it is not biodegradable inside the body and thus inhibits cell spreading in 3D, which we aim to solve via macroporous CNF scaffolds and local and temporal controlled release of Cellulase.
