Rapid tests and patient-centred tests at the bedside, so-called point-of-care tests (POC tests), have proven to be of unexpected importance in the course of the coronavirus pandemic for the rapid detection and containment of the pathogen. Andreas Herrmann and scientists in his team have developed so-called RNA aptamer-based sensors as the basis for a new type of rapid test and will take these to a new level in the ‘Novel AptameR-Based Rapid Test Technology for Virus Detection’ (NARRATE) project.
