The pollution of the environment by the use of chemical fertilizers and pesticides poses a great risk to the health of animals and humans. Especially in the use in private horticulture there is a danger due to excessive use. In this case, a large proportion of plant protection products are lost without effect due to lack of rain resistance and UV resistance. For this reason, there is growing interest in specific, biological alternatives with increased rainfastness that are released under controlled conditions. RNA biopesticides represent a significant alternative because they are more specific than chemical pesticides and thus act only against the target organism. The goal of this project is to encapsulate RNA bioinsecticides in polysaccharide-based microgels to increase rainfastness, UV resistance, and RNAse inhibition, and to achieve controlled release in the insect gut. Here, the effect against different insects will be shown and the efficiency under field conditions will be determined.
