Mechanical pain in skin is transduced in the epidermis through crosstalk between keratinocytes and epidermal nerve fiber endings; however, the underlying communication mechanisms are not fully understood. 

This study aims to develop an innervated in vitro skin model to investigate how mechanical stimuli in the epidermis are transduced into electrical signals in sensory neurons.
