Research interest
Matthias Mork's research deals with the synthesis of functional and magnetic field responsive microgels, capable of on-demand gene regulation. The microgels are precisely fabricated using multiple droplet-microfluidics techniques, to allow the generation of full and hollow microgel geometries in various sizes, loaded with magnetic nanoparticles and aptamer-signal molecule complexes. External magnetic fields are applied to locally generate heat inside the microgels, releasing the signaling molecules from the aptamer complexes, while shielding neighboring cells from the heat.
