Janik Hawlitzky, M.Sc.
Janik Hawlitzky’s research focuses on developing macroporous microgel-based scaffolds for differentiating induced pluripotent stem cells into human kidney tissue models. The goal is to combine active fluid flow and controlled microgel degradation to enable perfusable lumen structures to form within the kidney organoids. Thereby the influence of scaffold architecture and flow-derived mechanical stimuli on stem cell differentiation and organoid maturation is studied. Ultimately, the project aims to establish perfusable, physiologically relevant human kidney models for disease modeling and drug testing.
