Prof. Dr. Martin Möller elected foreign member of the Russian Academy of Sciences

20.11.2019

Martin Möller, Senior Professor at RWTH Aachen University and Associated Scientist at the DWI - Leibniz Institute for Interactive Materials, was elected as a foreign member of the Russian Academy of Sciences in November 2019. Möller, who was Scientific Director of DWI from 2003 to July 2019, will be honored for his research in Russia.

In 2019 Professor Möller received the "Mega Grant of the Government of the Russian Federation". With this grant, the Russian Federation promotes internationally leading scientists and researchers and helps to establish research institutes and projects in Russia. The aim is not only to create new research laboratories, but also to sustainably strengthen the relationship between Russian and other leading universities worldwide.

In Russia, Martin Möller runs the research project "Self-healing materials based on nanostructured polymers and polymer composites" at the A.N. Nesmeyanov Institute of Organoelement Сompounds in Moscow. The aim of his research is to develop a universal healing model that can be used for the healing of microcracks and scratches as well as for large-area damage, e.g. in the composition of sealing materials or polymer composites. The aim is to develop universal multi-component compositions that are capable of self-healing on several size scales.
