Julian Karl

Julian Karl is working on the PleuraPlug project in the Schwaneberg research group.

Together with the Department of Biohybrid & Medical Textiles (BioTex) and Pfeifer & Langen GmbH, this interdisciplinary project team joins forces to develop surface-functionalized biobased and injectable patches for tissue regeneration. Finally, the goal is an “off-the-shelf” available therapy that substitutes a major surgical intervention by a minimal invasive endoscopic intervention with a minimal burden for the patient. From a socio-economic point of view the project will contribute to a significant reduction of hospitalization time and thus to a financial relief of the healthcare system.
