PhD student
Iris Doolaar, M.Sc.
Research interest
Iris has a background in biomedical sciences and is interested in the effect of mechanical information on cell behaviour. During her PhD, Iris will use the recently developed light-responsive hydrogel system to study mechanotransduction in muscular tissues. This system allows for the generation of cyclical mechanical forces to mimic muscle contractions. The application of cyclical mechanical stimulation to in vitro models will eludicate how these dynamic forces are translated into biological processes like proliferation and differentiation.
