Novel artificial muscles move with sound

29.10.2025

Researchers from ETH Zurich, the University of Münster, the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, the RWTH Aachen University, and the DWI - Leibniz Institute for Interactive Materials have developed artificial muscles that contain microbubbles and can be controlled with ultrasound. In the future, these muscles could be deployed in technical and medical settings as gripper arms, tissue patches, targeted drug delivery, or robots.
