On January 25, DWI welcomed the president of the Leibniz Association, Matthias Kleiner, and Karin Effertz, who is responsible for the mathematics, natural sciences and engineering institutes within the Leibniz Association. They met the members of the scientific and managing board and learned about recent developments within the institute. This was followed by an informal discussion with PhD students.

In a keynote speech Matthias Kleiner explained the key aspects and strategy of the Leibniz association. He emphasized the importance of collaborations both within the Leibniz Association, on a national and international level and, in particular, with universities. In this context he valued the strong interactions between DWI and RWTH Aachen University.
