Twin Polymerization
Novel hybrid sol-gel coatings for textiles by twin polymerization
New hybrid nanostructured sol-gel coatings for textiles and other surfaces are developed which have improved adhesion and permanence as well as further functionalities (such as hydrophobization and anti-soil treatment). Basis is the twin polymerization procedure which has been developed at TU Chemnitz (working group of Prof. Spange). The SiO2 content of the twin macromonomers will be increased by reaction between highly cross-linked polyethoxysiloxan (PEOS) and suitable phenols.
