Furan Plasticizers
Soft PVC: Furan-based plasticizer as a substitute for phthalates
Together with the ITMC of the RWTH Aachen (working group Prof. Palkovits) and the FILK in Freiberg (working group Prof. Stoll), furan-based plasticizers are developed and evaluated for their use in soft-PVC products, such as foils and synthetic leather. The furan derivatives, which are sustainably accessible from residues of the wood or food industry, are being investigated for their potential as a substitute for phthalate plasticizers.
