Functional nanofiber composites
Functional nanofiber composites for selective removal of metal ions/complexes and bacteria from aqueous media
The project focused on the development of new filter media. In cooperation with the University of Bayreuth a composite material was developed consisting of a carrier (textile or granules) and interpenetrating functional supramolecular nanofibers. With proper functionalisation such kind of composites able to remove bacteria via mechanical separation as well as to adsorb gold(III)-species from aqueous media with a very high efficiency and selectivity.
