One of three Leibniz Apprentice Awards goes to Aachen
Marc Bahsi Becker, a chemical laboratory technician trained at the DWI, has received one of three Leibniz Trainees' Prizes 2024. The prize is awarded for outstanding professional achievements and social commitment by apprentices at Leibniz institutions and is endowed with 2,000 euros. It was presented by Leibniz President Martina Brockmeier in Berlin on November 27, 2024.
Marc Bahsi Becker, 21 years old, completed his vocational training as a chemical laboratory technician at the DWI from August 2021 to June 2024. During this time, Marc Becker integrated very well into the respective international working groups with a high level of commitment and excellent communication and teamwork skills. In the third year of his training, he also successfully worked in a new field of biomedicine.
With great dedication, he passed on his extensive expertise to apprentices in different years in learning groups and supported apprentices in their first year of training in organizational matters. During his third year of training, he also completed an Erasmus-funded internship abroad at the Institute for Bioengineering of Catalonia in Barcelona (Spain).
In his free time, Marc Becker volunteers as a paramedic, a lifeguard and a swimming instructor for children at the German Life Saving Society (DLRG). For these activities, he received the “Young Volunteer Scholarship of the Aachen Metropolitan Area” in 2023.
After completing his training, Marc Becker began studying veterinary medicine at the University of Veterinary Medicine Hannover.
Alongside a chemical laboratory assistant from Dresden and an office management assistant from Mainz, Marc was awarded the prize, worth €2,000, by Leibniz President Martina Brockmeier in Berlin on November 27, 2024.
