Ex vivo cultivation

We concentrate on mimicking an alveolar barrier using an ultrathin nanofiber membranes equipped with biological signals. The thickness and the pore sizes of these nanofiber membranes resemble the structure of the basement membrane. The project intends to lay the ground for the ex vivo reconstruction of other natural barriers e.g. endothelial-based boundaries in multicellular organs.
