Non-thrombogenic Modification

Non-thrombogenic Active Surface Modification of Oxygenator Membrane for Extended Event-free Use

The project aims at the developing of coatings for the membrane of artificial lungs that can extend its operation without thromboembolic complications. For this we will study different polymer brushes that prevent protein adsorption and activation of coagulation and devise an artificial self-regenerative fibrinolytic system. The function of the latter is to disintegrate thrombi formed upstream of the membrane.
