Innovative flame-protection for carbon fiber reinforced polymers
The research subject aims the development and application of environment-friendly Additives for flame protection of epoxy-based carbon fiber reinforced polymers. Focus of the project will be the synergistic effect of nanoscale silica- and phosphorous-based flame retardants. The flame retardant will be mixed within the epoxy resin and processed to the carbon fiber by resin transfer molding (RTM), with preservation of mechanical properties of the composites.
