Research interest
The research of Stephan Emonds deals with the fabrication and further development of polymer membranes. One focus is on hollow fiber membranes with polyelectrolyte complex separation layers. These membranes are characterized by high fluxes and at the same time high selectivity for salts and low molecular weight substances. The target of research is to minimize the complexity of the manufacturing process and to reduce the use of toxic solvents and crosslinkers. The membranes can be applied in various fields, e.g. in chemistry, biology, medicine and in the treatment of drinking and industrial wastewater.
