The research of Christian Linnartz deals with charge transport in particle networks and its application in flow-electrode capacitive deionization (FCDI). Electrochemical methods are used to optimize the properties of flow electrodes and new materials are developed for the application of the process. The target of the process is to separate salt solutions continuously and selectively, aming at highly concentrated solutions produced in one step. Thus, the valuable material salt can be recycled in an energy-efficient way and emissions are avoided.
